It is believed that this pyramid was constructed as a mausoleum for the name of Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu and it has been discussed that the construction of the pyramid took almost twenty years. There are three pyramids in the Giza pyramid complex and The Great Pyramid of Giza is the oldest and the largest of them all. Serious excavations of the interior of the pyramid were only started in the late 18th and early 19th centuries CE and the pyramid\u2019s flawless symmetry and impressive height imposed the ancient visitors.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Great Pyramid has three known chambers inside. The last chamber is cut into the basis upon which the pyramid was constructed and was unfinished. On the top of the pyramid structure, there are two chambers which are called the Queen\u2019s Chamber and King\u2019s Chamber. Moreover, the core part of the Giza complex contains two mortuary temples for the behalf of Khufu, one of them is close to the pyramid and the other one is near the Nile, plus three smaller pyramids for the wives of Khufu, and small tombs which are called \u2018mastaba\u2019. This controversy firstly comes from the fact that we do not see any part in Babylonian history that the gardens were being mentioned. Furthermore, Herodotus, \u2018the Father of History\u2019, also makes no mention of them in his descriptions of Babylon. However, we should not forget that there are many other ancient facts, figures, and places Herodotus fails to mention or has been shown to be wrong about. In addition, East Gardens were the utopic symbols of the romantic movement for the ancient Greek writers so in this sense it is also not so possible to be sure if The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are real or not. If they are so, it is believed that they were built between 605-562 BCE by Nebuchadnezzar II as a gift to his lovely wife. Diodorus Siculus explained The Hanging Gardens of Babylon as \u2018a self-watering planes of exotic flora and fauna reaching a height of over seventy-five feet (twenty-three meters)through a series of climbing terraces.\u2019\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In Diodorus Siculus\u2019opion, Nebuchadnezzar ordered that a mountain be created for his wife, Amytis of Media, in Babylon because that she was homesick and was not feeling so good in this regard.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Diodorus, Philo, and the historian Strabo all claim the gardens existed. This statue illustrated the god Zeus seated on his throne. His skin was made of ivory and his robe, hair, and beard were made of hammered gold. It was forty feet (twelve meters) tall and the aim was to galvanize awe in the believers who come to the Temple of Zeus at Olympia. However, it would be wrong if I say everyone was awestruck by the statue. Strabo claims:\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although the temple itself is very large, the sculptor is criticized for not having\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">appreciated the correct proportions. He has shown Zeus seated, but with the head\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">almost touching the ceiling, so that we have the impression that if Zeus moved to stand\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">up he would unroof the temple. Its construction was completely finished in 550 BCE. It was completely constructed with marble and it was completely rebuilt twice. Unfortunately, there are just two marble pieces left from the structure that has been counted as one of the seven wonders. It was a memorial tomb and King Mausollos\u2019 wife and his daughter wanted this mausoleum to be built on behalf of King Mausollos. It was located in Halicarnassus, which is called Bodrum in present-day Turkey. It has forty-five meters height, thirty meters width, and twenty-five meters length. There is a chariot with four horses on the top of the mausoleum, which is the symbol of the victory, and above the car, there are the sculptures of the King Mausollps and his wife. Unfortunately, surrounders had used all of the stones from the mausoleum to build the Bodrum Castle by the time of the crusades. I should say that it took twelve years to build it. Colossus of Rhodes was stood by the harbor of that city in 280 BCE, one of the most important trading ports in the ancient Mediterranean.\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sculpture was made by the local sculptor Chares. Using bronze, the statue soon appeared on contemporary travel writer\u2019s lists of must-see sights and was thus known as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was 134 meters high and was commissioned by Ptolemy I Soter. Construction was completed sometime around 280 BCE. The lighthouse was the third tallest human-made structure in the world after the pyramids, and its light could be seen as far as 35 miles out to sea. The lighthouse was badly damaged in an earthquake in 956 CE, again in 1303 CE and 1323 CE and, by the year 1480 CE, it was gone. The lighthouse of Alexandria was the only one to be used for a daily basis needs in the seven wonders. In some languages like Spanish, French, and Italian pharos means lighthouse and it comes from The Lighthouse of Alexandria because it is located, as it is mentioned above, on the island of Pharos.
