Bar\u0131\u015f Man\u00e7o was born in Moda on January 2, 1943. His mother, Rikkat, was an artist of Turkish Art Music. He started to be interested in music. It started at Galatasaray High School. He started his music career at Galatasaray High School. He put together his first band which was called \u201cKafadarlar\u201d in this high school. The second group he founded was \u201cHarmoniler\u201d. Later he passed to \u015ei\u015fli Terakki High School. <\/span>After he had finished high school, he studied graphic, painting and interior architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Belgium between 1963 and 1971. He took part in a music band named “Lemistgrees” in Belgium, consisting of American, Belgian, Italian, North African and British musicians. He gave a concert in Paris Olympia within two years of his work with “Lemistgrees”. In 1966, he released two 45-year-old records in Paris.<\/span><\/p>\n He returned to Turkey in 1970. Here, together with Mazhar Alanson and Fuat G\u00fcner, he formed a group called \u201cKayg\u0131s\u0131zlar\u201d. He had a breakthrough with his tenth record “Da\u011flar Da\u011flar”. 700,000 copies of the album was sold in five months. The “Da\u011flar Da\u011flar” single also brought in the artist the Golden Plaque Award. He worked with the Mo\u011follar in 1971 and founded the band Kurtalan Express in the same year. <\/span>Bar\u0131\u015f Man\u00e7o took his first video to the song “Hey Koca Top\u00e7u” in 1973. He made his first album “2023” in 1975. He married to Lale Man\u00e7o in 1978 and had two sons, Do\u011fukan and Bat\u0131kan.<\/span><\/p>\n In 1980, he won gold medals with songs “Nick The Chopper” and “Ben Bir \u015eark\u0131y\u0131m” in the Golden Orfe. He participated in many TV programs abroad as a guest, and gave concerts in many countries. In 1983, he participated in the Eurovision Song Contest with his song “Kazma” but was eliminated.<\/span><\/p>\n In 1988, he started to present an entertainment show on TRT 1 called \u201c7 to 77\u201d and it was appealing to all ages from 7 to 77. Until 1998, 370 episodes of it were published.<\/span><\/p>\n More than 200 songs he composed brought him many awards. Many of these songs were also interpreted in Greek, Arabic, Kurdish, Japanese, French, English, Bulgarian, Persian, Hebrew and Dutch. Man\u00e7o, who considered worthy of many awards throughout his music and television life, he won the title of State Artist and the Honorary Doctorate of Hacettepe University and Japan International Culture & Peace Award in 1991. In 1995, he won the title of “Turkmen Citizenship” given by the President of Turkmenistan Saparmurat T\u00fcrkmenba\u015f\u0131.
