Cedi Osman is a Turkish professional basketball player who is currently playing for Cleveland Cavaliers in NBA. He is a well-known basketball player in Turkey but he became more popular after the campaign for support from social media for the injured of the Elaz\u0131\u011f earthquake.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Early Years<\/b><\/h3>\n

Cedi Osman was born in 1995 in Macedonia, Ohrid. Her mother is Macedonian and her father is Turkish. At the year 1999, he moved to Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was very interested in sports and he was an active child and his parents directed him to basketball by registering him KK Bosna Basketball Club. While he was playing for KK Bosna, he was discovered by the scouts of Anadolu Efes Sport Club and at the age of 13, he moved to \u0130stanbul with his family. He became a Turkish citizen and he started to play in the youth team of Anadolu Efes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Anadolu Efes<\/b><\/h3>\n

Osman was in the junior team of Anadolu Efes and he later played in star team and the youth team. While he was playing in the youth team, he managed to win a championship. Cedi was called to play in the Jordan Brand Classic International Match in 2011 and took 27 minutes on the world team and finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 6 steals.<\/span><\/p>\n

NBA<\/b><\/h3>\n

On July 18, 2017, Osman was selected by Minnesota Timberwolves from the draft but on the same night, he swapped to Cleveland Cavaliers. In January 2019, he scored 29 points against Miami Heat and broke his own record in NBA. On March 7, 2019, Osman exceeded the 1000 points threshold in the match played against Brooklyn Nets.<\/span><\/p>\n

He is currently playing for Cleveland Cavaliers and taking firm steps in his career.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

National Team<\/b><\/h3>\n

Osman played in the Turkish National Junior Team in 2011 FIBA Europe U-16 Championship which he was ranked in 7th place with his team for the first time. He scored 12.3 points and 2.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per a match in 9 matches which he played in total.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Osman achieved a championship in 2013 FIBA Europe U-16 Championship with his team, winning the final game against Croatia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Turkey had a championship in 2014 FIBA Europe U-20 Championship defeating Spain. Cedi achieved his highest score in the semi-finals, the match against Lithuania and he was named as \u2018\u2019 most talented player\u2019\u2019 and chosen as one of the best 5 and he selected as Most Valued Player.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He first appeared in the Turkish National Senior Team in the 2014 FIBA World Championship which took place in Spain. He played his first match in the team against New Zealand for 9 minutes and he scored 2 rebounds. The team eliminated in the semi-finals by losing against Lithuania.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 2015 Europe Basketball Championship, Cedi was planned to be in the top five but he got injured right before the championship started and he could not participate in the practice matches. However, he took place in the top 5 for 6 matches in the championship. Turkey qualified out of the group with the 4th place but eliminated in the second round against France and lost their chance to play in the 2016 Summer Olympics. His best performance was the match against Iceland, he scored 22 points in 38 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n
