Agatha Christie, one of the important writers of British literature, full name Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie Mallowan, is also one of the most known representative of detective fiction. She\u2019s the creator of detective Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. She also wrote romantic books with the nickname Mary Westmacott. But she gained her fame actually with 80 detective novels and her theater pieces being performed at the West End.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Agatha Christie was born in Torquay, United Kingdom in 15 September 1980. According to Guinness Records Book, she\u2019s one of the best seller writers of all time. Her novels were sold about 2 billions. After Shakespeare\u2019s books and the Bible, the most selling books are the novels of hers. In Index Translationum\u2019s report, it\u2019s said that her novels are the most translated books and they have been translated into more than 103 languages. Her <\/span>And Then There Were None <\/span><\/i>is her best seller.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Agatha Christie is the child of an upper-middle class family. She was the youngest child of Frederick Alvah Miller and Clarissa Margaret Millet. Her mother was the daughter of an Irish lieutenant and her father was born in New York City.<\/span><\/p>\n She had a happy childhood and grew up seeing strong women around her. Her sibling used to believe that her mother was a seer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Her sister Madge was sent to Roedean School in Sussex to study there but her mother insisted on that Christie should have been educated at home. As a result of that, she learned how write and read besides the basics of math at school with the help of her parens. Her parents also taught her playing piano and mandolin. Her mother believed that she shouldn\u2019t have learned how to read till she was eight but being a curious child, she could achieve learning how to read by herself at an earlier age.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She was always fond of reading since the early times of her childhood. The children\u2019s book she read included Miss Molesworth\u2019s work. When she grew up, she started to read writers like Edward Lear and Lewis Carol. She then wrote her first poem when she was 10 in 1901 April.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She spent a lot of time with her pet but she was a lonely child. She was writing to fulfill this loneliness. She started to write narratives at an early age.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Being taught at home during her childhood, Agatha Cheiste started to study at Miss Guyer\u2019s Girls School in Torquay in 1902 after his father\u2019s death in 1901 but she had problems to keep up with the discipline there. She was sent to Paris for her studies again in 1905. She studied in 3 different schools there and completed her education.<\/span><\/p>\n After her first trial of writing at early age, while she was working as a nurse during the World War I, she started to write detective stories. At her first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles introduced the eccentric and egoist, Belgian character Hercule Poirot to the reader. Poirot was the head character of her other 25 novels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n In 1952, she wrote the first long piece at one cut, The Moustrap. This piece was performed at different places more than for 21 years. Then she wrote Witness for the Prosecution. This was filmed as most of her work. Her work also turned into TV series.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Agatha Christie got married to Lieutenant Archibald Christie in 1914. She had a daughter She got a depression when her mother died in 1926 because she was too close to her. At the same year in August, Archie told Christie that he wanted to get a divorce. He was in love with a woman called Nancy Neele. On 3 September, Archie told her that he was going to a trip without her. Christie left home that day and disappeared for a while. Her car was found in Newslands Corner. There was an expired driving licence with her clothes inside the car.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It was a shock to find out that she disappeared. Her secretary called the police. The newspapers offered 100 pounds as a reward. Thousands of policemen, 15.000 volunteers and a couple of planes were trying to find her. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle gave her gloves to a seer and wanted her to find Christie. Regardless of all, no-one could find her for 10 days.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On 14 September 1926, she was found at Swan Hydropathic Hotel. She didn\u2019t remember anything about her disappear. The doctors said that she was suffering from a temporary memory lost. In 1928, Christie and Archie got divorced and he got married to Nancy Neele after one week. Christie took the custody of her daughter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She went on an Orient Express trip at the end of the same year. She met Max Mallowan there who was 13 younger than her. They got married on September 1930. They had a happy marriage and they had been married till Agatha Christie died in 976.<\/span><\/p>\n Her health wasn\u2019t good between 1971-1974. Yet she continued to write. In 1985, when she was 85 years old, she had a natural death.
