Bitlis is a city in Turkey and it is located in East Anatolia region. Bitlis\u2019s neighbours are Van, Mu\u015f, Batman, A\u011fr\u0131 and Siirt. The city is valuable with its cultural and historical artifacts.<\/p>\n
According to the assumptions that were made by referring the previous years data, population of Bitlis is around 349.275. Its survey is 6707 km2 and licence plate code is 13.<\/p>\n
Bitlis has so many historical touches from Neolithic (new stone age) age which was between the years of 3000 and 9000 B. C. In 16th century, some districts of Bitlis such as Mu\u015f, Ahlat, Bulan\u0131k and H\u0131n\u0131s were parts of Bitlis and Bitlis were a province of Ottoman Empire. However, later on Bitlis became a township which was a part of Mu\u015f District and it went on like this till the 19th century. .<\/p>\n

Among all of the crater lakes of the world, Nemrut crater Lake is the second biggest lake. In Turkey, it is the biggest one obviously. Its width is around 10 km and the name of the lake comes from the King of Babel; Nemrut.<\/p>\n
El Aman Inn is located in the district of Tatvan and the history of it goes to 16th century. It was used as an inn in the first years, then it was used as a ceravanserai. In the the recent past, it was renovated and used as a recreational facility. This structure is a good sample of Ottoman architecture.<\/p>\n
Ahlat Museum is one of the most popular stops of Bitlis. It was opened to visit in 1971. This Museum was an open-air museum first. In the museum there is an essential and ancient collection of a lot of ancient pots and pans from the years of 1500-2000 B. C, historical artifacts and archaeological diggings, some stuff from Seljuq Empire and so on.<\/p>\n
Bitlis has a variety in terms of tourism area. Active tourism fields are winter tourism, culture tourism and thermal tourism in Bitlis.<\/p>\n
Transportation to Bitlis is a little bit limited because of its geographical location. As we wrote before, Bitlis is located in the East Anatolia and here, there is not a side to any sea. You can go to Bitlis by highway or rail way. There is not airport in this city but if you want to use air way, you can arrive from Batman, Mu\u015f, Van or Diyarbak\u0131r with connecting flights.
\nThere are 1.400 km. from Istanbul to Bitlis, so you need to go for 15-20 hours by your private car. Ankara is 1.100 km away from Bitlis and you need to go for 10-15 hours to get Bitlis by an automobile. Lastly, \u0130zmir is 1.600 km away from Bitlis and the duration changes between 18-20 hours to get to Bitlis from \u0130zmir by highway.<\/p>\n
According to the protocol, the governor who is assigned by the president of the Republic comes first. Local people who live in the borders of municipality select the mayor. Some of these voters are also members of district municipality council and they can also vote for district municipality council.
\nAll of the voters in the province decide who will be in the province council by voting for it.
\nCentral administration consists of the governed and province managers. Local administration consists of the mayors and municipality council.

Yakla\u015f\u0131k on kilometre geni\u015fli\u011findedir. G\u00f6l\u00fcn ismi Babil Kral\u0131 olan Nemrut’tan gelmektedir.<\/p>\n

Ahlat M\u00fczesi, Bitlis’in en \u00e7ok ziyaret g\u00f6ren gezi noktalar\u0131ndan biridir. M\u00fcze, 1971 y\u0131l\u0131nda hizmete a\u00e7\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. \u0130lk y\u0131llar\u0131nda a\u00e7\u0131k hava m\u00fczesi olarak hayata ge\u00e7irilmi\u015f olan m\u00fcze \u00e7ok \u00f6nemli ve zengin bir eser koleksiyonuna sahiptir. Hava yolunu tercih etmek isterseniz de Batman, Mu\u015f, Van veya Diyarbak\u0131r illerini tercih ederek aktarmal\u0131 ula\u015f\u0131m sa\u011flayabilirsiniz. \u0130stanbul – Bitlis aras\u0131 ortalama 1400 kilometre olup \u015fahsi ara\u00e7 ile 15-20 saat aras\u0131 bir yolculuk yapman\u0131z gerekir.
