According to the reports of Turkish Statistics Institution ( TUIK) in 2019, it has a population of 1.440.611 people. It\u2019s in the west of Anatolia, in the Aegean Region. Its neighbours are U\u015fak and K\u00fctahya in the east, Ayd\u0131n and Denizli in the south, Bal\u0131kesir in the north and \u0130zmir in the west. Its survey is 13.339-kilometre square and its altitude is 79 meters. Its licence plaque code is 45. The governor of Manisa is Ahmet Deniz. It\u2019s the second biggest city and trade centre of Aegean Region after \u0130zmir. It\u2019s also known as the Sultan\u2019s sons city and is famous for its grapes and mesir paste. The city is located at the skirts of Spil Mountain and a great part of Gediz River flows through the city. According to the TUIK ( Turkish Statistics Institution) reports on 4 February 2020, it has 17 provinces and municipalities and 1088 neighbourhoods. Ahmetli, Akhisar, Ala\u015fehir, Demirci, G\u00f6lmarmara, G\u00f6rdes, K\u0131rka\u011fa\u00e7, K\u00f6pr\u00fcba\u015f\u0131, Kula, Salihli, Sar\u0131g\u00f6l, Saruhanl\u0131, Selendi, Soma, \u015eehzadeler, Turgutlu and Yunusemre are the provinces of Manisa. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>A Short History of Manisa<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Manisa\u2019s history dates back to Paleolithic times. The ancient sources mark the founders of the city as the Magnet people who live around the Pelion Mountain located in Thessalia region of Greece today. When they migrated to West Anatolia, they founded the Magnesia, today known as Manisa. Manisa has been home to Hittites, Phyrigrians, Ionians, Lydians, Persians, Romans, Byzantines, Saruhano\u011fullar\u0131 Chiefdom and Ottomans. Manisa became an Ottoman city in 1412. It was an important politics centre for the Ottomans especially between 1437-1595 during which the Ottoman shahzaades were sent to the city to gain more experience about the governance of the country. 16 shahzaades in total like Murat II, Fatih the conquerer and Suleiman the Great some of whom later became Ottoman sultans stayed in the city and become the chiefs of their sanjaks. Manisa was later occupied by the Greek army on 26 May 1919 and got liberated by the Turkish army on 8 September 1922. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Where to Visit in Manisa<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">There are lots of historical sites and natural places to see in Manisa. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Spil Mountain<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Spil Mountain is located 24 kilometres north of Manisa. It\u2019s a mountain whose name is generally known with Manisa. It\u2019s a volcanic mountain with a variety of historical and mythological backgrounds where you can find a rich flora. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Aigai Ancient Site<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s around 49 kilometres to Manisa and located near K\u00f6seler village. It\u2019s one of the 12 cities in Anatolia that Heredotus spoke of. Its history dates back to 8th century BC. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Niobe, the Crying Rock<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s believe that this rock, likened to a woman crying,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>represents Niobe whom Zeus turned into a rock. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Traditional Kula Houses<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">These houses are typical Turkish houses and they are one of the successful types of Ottoman Art. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>How to Go to Manisa<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s possible to go to Manisa via railway, freeway and airway. The closest airport to the Manisa is Adnan Menderes Airport in \u0130zmir which is 39 kilometres to the city. You can hire a car to go to Manisa from the airport or first go to the \u0130zmir bus station and take a bus to \u0130zmir. If you want to take a bus, there are every day scheduled buses from cities like \u0130zmir, Ankara and \u0130stanbul. If you want to take a train, there\u2019s a railway connection from Band\u0131rma, Bal\u0131kesir, \u0130zmir, U\u015fak, Ayd\u0131n and Denizli to Manisa.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Manisa \u015eehir Tan\u0131t\u0131m\u0131<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Manisa, T\u00fcrkiye\u2019nin en kalabal\u0131k 14. ilidir. Antik kaynaklara g\u00f6re, \u015fehrin kurucular\u0131, g\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fczde Yunanistan\u2019\u0131n Teselya b\u00f6lgesinde ya\u015fayan Magnetlerdir. Magnetler Bat\u0131 Anadolu\u2019ya g\u00f6\u00e7 ettiklerinde, bug\u00fcn Manisa olarak bilinen Magnesia \u015fehrini kurdular. Manisa tarih boyunca, Hititler, Frigyal\u0131lar, Iyonyal\u0131lar, Lidyal\u0131lar, Persler, Romal\u0131lar, Bizansl\u0131lar, Saruhano\u011fullar\u0131 ve Osmanl\u0131lar gibi pek \u00e7ok k\u00fclt\u00fcre ev sahipli\u011fi yapm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r. 1412\u2019de Manisa bir Osmanl\u0131 \u015fehri oldu. Heredot\u2019un bahsetti\u011fi Anadolu\u2019daki 12 kentten biridir. Tarihi milattan \u00f6nce 8.
