TOKAT<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Tokat, which was known as the \u2018Komana\u2019 during the Byzantine period, \u2018Kah-Cun\u2019 in Iran period, \u2018Dar Un-Nusrat\u2019 during the the Seljuk Empire, Mongol period known with \u2018Sobaru\u2019 name, is a province in the Black Sea region of Turkey.<\/p>\n

HISTORY<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Tokat, believed to have been founded by the Togayites in the early ages, passed under the rule of the Hittites, Assyrians, Hurris and Cimmerians, and then passed to the administration of the Persians, Macedonians of the Alexander the Great period, the Kingdom of Capodocia and the Pontus Kingdom, which was named “Comana Pontica”.\u00a0It was ruled by the Romans and the Byzantine State in 65 BC.\u00a0Tokat Castle, which is of critical importance in the Byzantine-Sassanid and Byzantine-Arab wars, is located on Hisartepe, 750 meters high, in the southwest of the city, which was conquered by the Danishmens (1071) and then by the Anatolian Seljuks (1150).\u00a0The\u00a0oldest traces of\u00a0Tokat Castle\u00a0belong to 5. or 6.\u00a0centuries and it is known that the castle existed in these years.<\/p>\n

Tokat has been the home of various civilizations throughout history.\u00a0Many of the countless historical artifacts spread over towns and villages from these civilizations have been damaged by wars and earthquakes for 5000 years.\u00a0The point that the Roman Emperor Caesar said “I came, I saw, I was defeated” is thought to be Zile.\u00a0Tokat is a lucky province in terms of natural beauties.<\/p>\n

Tokat Castle:\u00a0<\/strong>It\u00a0is thought that the\u00a0castle\u00a0was built in the\u00a05th and 6th\u00a0century AD.\u00a0It remained in the hands of the Byzantines for many years.\u00a0In Seljuk and Ottoman periods, it \u00a0was\u00a0repaired and renewed for the purpose of defense.<\/p>\n

Sebastapolis Ancient City: <\/strong>The\u00a0<\/strong>Ancient City, located in Sulusaray district center, was established in the Bronze Age.\u00a0The foundation date of the ancient city of Sebastapolis is not yet\u00a0known.\u00a0 It is thought to have been founded in\u00a01 B.C.\u00a0Sebastapolis is in Latin as a word and it means “big city with magnificence”.\u00a0In some sources, the name Heracleopolis is mentioned.\u00a0It\u00a0is known that the\u00a0city \u200b\u200bwas an important settlement\u00a0area\u00a0during the Roman and Byzantine Periods\u00a0.<\/p>\n

Atat\u00fcrk House and Ethnography Museum\u00a0:\u00a0<\/strong>Atat\u00fcrk visited this place several times during the National Struggle and after the Republic was declared.\u00a0In some of his visits, he stayed in this house owned by Mustafa Vasfi S\u00fcsoy.\u00a0The house was later turned\u00a0into a museum.<\/p>\n

G\u00f6k Madrasah: <\/strong>G\u00f6k Madrasah, which is one of\u00a0<\/strong>the important structures of Anatolian Seljuks, does not have an inscription.\u00a0However, considering the period when Muiniddin S\u00fcleyman Pervane was effective\u00a0, its construction\u00a0is thought to be\u00a0the third\u00a0quarter\u00a0of the 13th\u00a0century\u00a0.<\/p>\n

Tokat Museum: <\/strong>It\u00a0<\/strong>is located in the bedesten, which is an Ottoman building in the historical Sulusokak in the city center.\u00a0Although the building known as Arastal\u0131 Bedesten is a historical building,\u00a0it is not known when it was built.\u00a0It is estimated that it\u00a0was\u00a0built in the\u00a0XV.\u00a0and XVI.\u00a0century\u00a0from the remains\u00a0and historical sources\u00a0that can\u00a0survive\u00a0.<\/p>\n

Ball\u0131ca Cave:\u00a0<\/strong>Known under the name of Indere, the cave is located in the village of Pazar, Ball\u0131ca.\u00a0The cave, which is one of the biggest caves in the world, has been open to visitors since 1995.\u00a0It is estimated that the formation of the cave started 4 million years ago.\u00a0It is about 680 meters long and 90-95 meters high.<\/p>\n

Resadiye Thermal Springs:\u00a0<\/strong>Sources that have therapeutic features in the district are an important part of district tourism.\u00a0Resadiye is a district famous for its hot springs.\u00a0Water, the highest temperature at 48 degrees, has over 4 g of mineral per liter.<\/p>\n

Goose Lake:\u00a0<\/strong>Goose Lake is one of the newest beauties of Tokat.\u00a0Goose Lake was actually a swamp.\u00a0A landscape study has been launched recently to bring it to tourism.\u00a0It is also a wildlife development area that hosts 108 kinds of birds.\u00a0The most striking feature is the 2 observation towers rising among these lush green reeds.\u00a0Since there are many bird types here, it is highly preferred with bird watchers.<\/p>\n

Airline:\u00a0<\/strong>Istanbul-Ankara scheduled flights are organized\u00a0from Tokat Airport, which is\u00a0located 17 km\u00a0on the\u00a0Tokat-Turhal highway\u00a0.<\/p>\n
