THE MARMARA REGION<\/b>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>The Marmara Region, which is named after the Sea of Marmara, is located in western part of Turkey. \u00a0Occupying the 8.6% of the total territory of the country, the Marmara Region is the smallest region of Turkey with 67.000 square kilometers of land. Although it is the smallest part of Turkey in terms of territory, the Marmara region is the most densely populated region of the country. On the other hand, it is the region where the European Continent and the Asian Continent meet. Geographically, the region plays a key role for the country. <\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>According to the census of 2010, the Marmara Region has 21.89 million inhabitants, majority of which live in the city of Istanbul. Furthermore, Istanbul is the most crowded city of the whole country due to the fact that it has always been considered the gate that opens to Europe throughout history. The Marmara Region is the biggest contributor to the country\u2019s economy with many factories, farming areas, touristic places. It can be concluded that it is the most developed industrial estate of Turkey with lots of factories located in such cities as Kocaeli, Istanbul and Bursa. On the other hand, Istanbul has the biggest port of importation.<\/span>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>Opportunities for farming and producing agricultural products are among the other advantages of the region. It\u2019s possible to grow many types of agricultural products thanks to the climate and land conditions of the region. In terms of agriculture, the Marmara Region is the most developed region of the country. For instance, the 73% of the total sunflowers in Turkey are grown in the Marmara Region. Also, the region is famous for producing many other kinds of fruits and vegetables. <\/span>

\n<\/span>The Marmara Region is also known for its touristic and historical places. The region has the highest tourism income and cities such as Istanbul, Edirne and Bursa are the favorite places for visitors around the world. Especially in Istanbul, it\u2019s possible to see the remnants of the past civilizations. Every year, millions of tourists around the world come to visit Istanbul to witness the perfection that lies in the history of the city. In addition to that, Uludag, in Bursa, is one of the most frequently visited places for winter vacations. It\u2019s one of the most favorable places for the people that love winter sports. In the southern parts of the region, the beaches and other such places are increasingly becoming popular for summer vacations.\u00a0<\/span>

Dahas\u0131, tarih boyunca her zaman Avrupa\u2019ya a\u00e7\u0131lan kap\u0131 olarak nitelendirilen \u0130stanbul \u015fehri t\u00fcm \u00fclkenin en kalabal\u0131k \u015fehridir. Marmara B\u00f6lgesi fabrikalar\u0131yla tar\u0131m alanlar\u0131yla turistik b\u00f6lgeleriyle \u00fclke ekonomisine en \u00e7ok katk\u0131da bulunan b\u00f6lgedir. B\u00f6lgenin iklim ve arazi yap\u0131s\u0131 sayesinde burada pek \u00e7ok \u00e7e\u015fit tar\u0131m \u00fcr\u00fcn\u00fc yeti\u015ftirmek m\u00fcmk\u00fcnd\u00fcr. Tar\u0131m a\u00e7\u0131s\u0131ndan b\u00f6lge, \u00fclkenin en geli\u015fmi\u015f b\u00f6lgesidir. \u00d6rne\u011fin, T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de yeti\u015fen ay\u00e7i\u00e7eklerinin %73\u2019\u00fc Marmara B\u00f6lgesi\u2019nde yeti\u015ftirilmektedir. B\u00f6lge ayn\u0131 zamanda di\u011fer pek \u00e7ok meyve ve sebzenin yeti\u015ftirilmesiyle de \u00fcnl\u00fcd\u00fcr. <\/span>

B\u00f6lge, turizmden en \u00e7ok gelir elde edilen b\u00f6lgedir ve Istanbul, Edirne, Bursa gibi \u015fehirler d\u00fcnyan\u0131n d\u00f6rt bir taraf\u0131ndan gelen ziyaret\u00e7ilerce olduk\u00e7a sevilen yerlerdir. \u00d6zellikle \u0130stanbul\u2019da ge\u00e7mi\u015f medeniyetlerden kalanlar\u0131 g\u00f6rmek m\u00fcmk\u00fcnd\u00fcr. Her y\u0131l milyonlarca turist \u015fehrin tarihinde yatan m\u00fckemmelli\u011fe tan\u0131kl\u0131k etmek i\u00e7in \u0130stanbul\u2019a gelir.
