The city of Brussels, known as the French Bruxelles and the Dutch Brussel, is the capital and most important city of Belgium. Brussels, one of the three federal regions of Belgium, is also the capital of this region. Brussels, which emerged in the area formed by the drying of a swamp a few centuries ago, also means the settlement within the swamp. There are 19 municipalities in Brussels and the total population of Brussels is 1.191.604.
